yesterday i got my first pet. we went to petco and grabbed one of those little mini shopping carts they have for people just my size. then i went and grabbed my new pet, actually pets, and put them in my cart. when we got home we got their little box all ready with grass and bark and a cheerio and a carrot. then mommy helped me put my twelve tiny crickets into their box.
i am soo excited.

i started preschool this week! i am so excited. i have a really really cool teacher. her name is ms. andrea.
here is a picture of me before leaving for my first day of school. my hair was styled by ramone (aka daddy with a funny voice).
i'm not sure if my excitement shows in this picture. what do you think?

i heard a new song on sunday that i really liked! so much so that daddy felt inspired. look what he did for me (be sure to turn up the volume):

have you ever heard of las vegas? well mommy and daddy had talked to me about it and told me i had gone there, but i didn't remember. last week we went there. i wanted to see m&m world, the volcano, and the fountains. we got to do all three! we also spent a lot of time in the pool. here is a picture of daddy and me going what i call waterfall tipping.

and here is a picture of daddy and me in front of the volcano before it erupted. i got to see my very first volcanic eruption. for a volcanologist like myself, there is nothing greater.

i also got to see family. we visited grandpa and nana, as well as aunt christina and kevin. the drive was very long, but i had a great time. i can't wait to go back!!

on saturday daddy told me about a spaceship that the united states sends into space called the space shuttle. he wanted to show me it going into space, but they didn't that day. so we went on the computer and found videos of different space shuttle launches.
we tried to watch again on sunday, and again they didn't launch.
finally yesterday on the fourth of july i got to see my very first space shuttle launch as i watched discovery take off from florida. it was very cool and now i am very interested in things daddy was telling me about space shuttles and other space things. while daddy was telling me about the space shuttle i had many questions to ask. as a result daddy also told me about satellites including the hubble telescope, our solar system, galaxies, stars, nebulas where stars are born, black holes, meteors and comets, the big spot on jupiter, voyager and voyager 2, moon landings and lunar rock/soil samples, and mars rovers (daddy called them remote controlled cars with sample machines). i think just about covers it.
yesterday i wanted to make a space shuttle while we were waiting for the launch, so daddy and i made one out of construction paper with the rockets and gas tank and everything!

i have decided what i want to be when i grow up . . . a volcanologist.
that's right, my favorite subject right now is volcanoes. if you get a chance to talk to me, ask me about them. you will be surprised by my knowledge. from cinder cones to pahoehoe lava flows, i can tell you much. did you know that yellow lava is the hottest lava? i know that and then some.
