I woke up early, so I decided to go for a walk by myself. I walked down our street, Steingasse, to the Tower Gate:
I then walked out on to the bridge. The sky was mostly clear with some clouds, and I could see fog moving in from the east and the west of the valley.
I went back to the room and Karen was awake. I told her where I’d been and she wanted to go see what I had, but first we needed to stop and the coffee shop next door to fuel up.
Then we ventured out together to explore the Old Bridge
We continued across the bridge and began our way up the path to Philosophenweg (Philosopher’s Way). The path was really cool in that at first it was like a stone hallway:
The path went quite a distance, so after a bit we turned around and headed back into town where we briefly explored The Church of the Holy Spirit before returning to the apartment to check in with the boys. After getting them out, we went to the Marktplatz where we sat in the sun and ate lunch:
We then took the boys into the Church and were given all kinds of great history info by the church lady. She suggested we climb to the top of the church tower (for a small fee), and asked the boys to count the steps to get a surprise when they returned.
Although none of us got the count correct, and in fact my count had skewed Aidan’s, Dylan was closest with 208… the actual count was 209. The boys were allowed to choose a free postcard. We left the church, and it was up to explore the castle.
We paid for the guided tour which allowed us entrance inside the castle, however I was completely underwhelmed. There was great history shared, but the actual inside of the castle, which I expected to display some amount of splendor, was sparse. Pictures were also not allowed so I was not able to capture anything.
As we were leaving the castle, we spotted a gentleman who had a black and gray fox on a leash… that was weird.
After leaving the castle, we returned to Vetter for dinner again, and this time I ordered a 1 liter beer… the waitress seemed to think I didn’t understand the size I was ordering… “It’s Big”, she said and made some gesture with her hand, I know I smiled:
