Samara Day Three, and rain… lots and lots of rain.

  • by

We awoke to rain… steady, constant, unending rain. It was actually quite nice as we had no plans at all for the day. We had decided we would have beach and pool time and that was it. Karen cooked eggs for breakfast, and after we ate, she laid in the hammock, and I sat on the patio writing in our journals (well me typing in my blog), while the boys sat inside watching cartoons in spanish. We had no problems having a lazy morning… but the rain continued, and continued and finally after three hours Karen was restless. I can (and do) sit in front of a computer all day so I had no issue, but Karen needed to do something. So she put on her swimsuit and went to the pool. It was not cold and there was no thunder and lightning, so it was comfortable for her.

After a bit she returned from the pool, and prepared us lunch. By now the rain had finally stopped, and the boys had emerged from the villa. After they ate they decided to look for “Nacho”, the little orange kitten that belonged to the family that was staying in the villa downstairs. When the little boy (maybe 4 or 5 years old) who was part of that family was asked if he lived there, he responded “No, we are here on vacation for 12 years.” Nacho was located and touted around and sat on laps and, and, and… the boys, Dylan in particular, could not leave the kitten alone, which was fine by him because the kitten loved people and didn’t want to be alone. When his family left, he would venture up to our villa. In fact the previous night when we had gone inside, he stayed outside the door and meowed… but eventually stopped. The boys weren’t the only ones smitten with the kitten… he had crawled into Karen’s heart too.
