First Day in Samara, Part 1

  • by

I decided to make eggs, ham, and bacon for the family for breakfast… unfortunately the pans we were provided were not conducive to creating a wonderful meal… I ended up cleaning the pan after each thing I cooked, which made cooking take quite a bit of time. However in the end, we all ended up with a decent meal.

After breakfast, we walked into to town to check it out. It took about as long to walk to the town as it did to walk through it… Samara is a small town. We looked in the souvenir shops and walked down to the beach. Then we turned arpound to walk backl and walked into a local tour company. We weren’t sure what we planned to do in Samara, but we had all expressed interest in a kayak trip to Isla Chorta… a small island not far from the beach.

After hearing about all of our options, we were excited to learnt that we could go on the kayak excursion at 1:00pm that afternoon (they always do the tour at low tide because little beach is above water on Isla Chorta during high tide). We went back to our hotel.

While at the hotel we learned that our new room would be ready shortly… so we decided to pack everything up and get ready to move before the kayak excursion. However, shortly in Costa Rica is not the same as shortly in So. Cal. We had a bit of a rush to get our stuff moved, our lunch made, and get ready for the excursion, all in an hour. Thanks to Karen living seemingly living this scenario every day of her life, we were able to get it all done and leave in time to walk to the tour office.
