Suspension Bridge Hike in Monteverde Cloud Forest

  • by

After the zip-lining, I was experiencing what I called an adrenaline hang-over. Of course the entire time start to finish was more than two hours and I had not had any food or water during that time, so that may have played a role in the shakiness I was feeling.

There was a restaurant there, so we decided to eat lunch before the suspension bridge hike, which turned out to be a good idea as it started to rain. Luckily by the time we finished eating the rain had let up and only a light rain was falling. We decided to go for the hike in the rain without ponchos or umbrellas… another great decision because within 10 minutes, there was no more rain at all.

There was a lot of forest to see on the hike, and it was cool to see it from so many levels of the forest. Some parts were from the ground, but the parts on the bridges were from the canopy level. There was a lot of life going on, but not what I expected. I real thought that there would be many insects and a few animals to be seen, when in fact i saw almost none at all. Lots of plant like, very little wildlife. In fact I could hear birds and I kept joking with Karen that those sounds were coming from speakers cause there wasn’t really any wildlife in this forest. Shortly before the trail ended, I spotted a bird… not sure what kind; can’t even remember the size, shape, or color. I just remember that I saw something.
