The rest of La Fortuna Day 1

After the horseback ride we returned to the Hotel, cleaned up, and then went into town for lunch. We chose a restaurant where I had a traditional Costa Rican meal, Casado. It was a large portion, but the meal ended up being rather costly… that is one thing that strikes me about Costa Rica… the prices are very comparable and in some ways higher than the U.S. It is making for an expensive trip, but I am trying very hard not to think about it.

After lunch, we stopped at a market to get some stuff, then we returned to the hotel to go swimming. The hotel has a serious of “hot springs” pools that flow from one to another, and they get cooler the farther from the source you go. There are approx. 10 of these pools. We explored each of these until we made our way to the last one where we saw a very large toad:
